Position Summary

 

The Software Developer & Designer role requires a self-motivated, goal driven and Customer focused individual who can work autonomously in a team environment. Their focus is to develop and design solutions to achieve end-to-end automation/delivery of key Fulfilment & Provisioning Applications embedded in Optus IT Service & Fulfilment domain.

The candidate will identify and address gaps between existing Optus systems capability and new Optus business requirements within the limits of the portfolio, work closely with domain architects, solution architects, business analysts and network engineers to translate business requirements to working deliverables supported by appropriate levels of testing and documentation. The candidate will then complete software development tasks to agreed software development processes in a co-development set-up.

 

  • You are expected to have functional experience in fulfilment domains, inventory, network service activation and eTOM application suits. NetCracker knowledge is a bonus, but not a must.
  • You will demonstrate functional experience in a wide area of technologies including Web Services (WSDL, REST), Groovy, Javascripts, JMS, XML, XSLT, JAVA/J2EE, Oracle WebLogic/JBOSS/TOMCAT/Apache application server, adapters, and Open Source technologies.
    The candidate is expected to follow Software Delivery, Service Management & Agile methodologies. This is in addition to showcasing ability relating to understanding a vendor source code to commence co-development.
  • You will demonstrate functional experience in SQL and database technologies, specifically Oracle based. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Low Level Design Artefacts for the developers to independently develop using
  • Adopt to Development practises within an Enterprise System that caters for high user demand
  • Development and modification of code to generate practical outcomes using inputs from existing Optus systems
  • Contribute to the implementation of new systems required to fulfil deliverables not met by existing systems
  • Delivery of software applications and development of high quality, within agreed scope
  • Provide a close working relationship with team members
  • Follow and improve software development processes, including agile processes
  • Support production incidents based on priority and urgency 
  • Maintain code quality (high stability, readability, low defect)
  • Proven ability to exercise effective technical solutions and innovation in high pressure situations
  • Support fellow team members, both in sharing technical know-how as well as delivering to agreed time and to implement with technical solution that is robust fit-for-purpose solution delivery at all times
  • Maintain skills to provide appropriate support for third and fourth level support, skilled and available to provide operational support and perform remedial activities

 

Experience and Qualifications

 

  • Software Engineering or Information Technology qualifications or equivalent tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline
  • A proven track record of 4 + years’ experience as a developer with service fulfilment and inventory OSS COTS in an IT development environment
  • Exposure to MPLS, TCP/IP
  • Understanding in SDLC/Agile Methodology, B2B/SOA/ESB integration, UNIX system commands/scripts, REST API/SOAP/HTTP, UML, eTOM/SID, Oracle PL/SQL, Web Services, Groovy, Javascripts, JMS, XML, XSLT, JAVA/J2EE, Oracle WebLogic/JBOSS/TOMCAT/Apache application server, adapters, and Open Source technologies.
  • Be able to integrate quality software changes and/or functionality into the Optus Network without customer experience disturbances or abnormal business impacts using approved implementation methods
  • Understand implementation and configuration on OSS COTS solutions e.g. NetCracker TOMS etc.
  • Understand of PDH/SDH/IP and carrier ethernet network
  • Experience with templates and their languages, such as JSP, Template::Toolkit, or others
  • Experience with a distributed source code manager, such as git, Java, Perl, JavaScript etc.
  • Exposure to OpenSource technologies and understanding of how ServiceNow, JIRA, Jenkins can be used for Software Delivery
